Audible.com - A Book Lover's Best Friend

If you're like most people (and that includes me), then your regular, every day life is often too hectic and crazy to allow time for things such as relaxing with a great book.  Who has time to read when you need to do things like get the kids ready for school, go to work, run errands, clean the house and cook dinner, right?  I used to be in that exact same spot and would go for months at a time without reading a single page — until one day I discovered the Audible website and the great services they provide for book lovers like you and me.

At Audible, you can purchase high-quality MP3 audio files of your favorite books, which you can then listen to in one of several ways.  For example, you can play the files directly from your computer. You can also transfer the files to a portable MP3 player such as the popular Apple iPod (my favorite). The service even allows you to burn the files to CD in order to listen to them on your home stereo system or in your car while driving to work or anywhere else for that matter.

Although you can purchase audiobooks without "officially" joining Audible, they do offer several different membership plans that will save you money if you do decide to try one of them.  For example, one of the plans allows you to choose one audiobook per month and one periodical subscription per month for a much lower price than you would normally pay for the products if you didn't have the plan.  You can use your monthly selection for any book in the Audible library, from the newest bestsellers to the oldest classics.  No titles are off limits or restricted, and there are no hidden fees associated with the monthly plans.  In addition, a very nice feature allows you to rollover your credits from month to month, which means you won't lose out if you sometimes forget to make your selection.

It usually takes people a little while to get used to listening to books rather than reading them.  That was certainly the case for me. But after you get the hang of it, you will love the flexibility it gives you.  The biggest advantage of listening to audiobooks from Audible is that you'll be able to multitask all day long.  You can put your headphones on and enjoy your novel or other type of book while you work out at the gym, or you can listen in your car as you sit in traffic.  This will allow you to be much more productive with your time, and you'll have the opportunity to indulge yourself with great literature no matter how crazy busy you are.

If you think you'd like to give Audible a try, signing up is as simple as filling out an online registration form on their website.  Be sure to check out the special offers on their site, and try to take advantage of those if you can because it will save you some money.  Once you discover how convenient it is to listen to books this way, you might never want to go back to regular books again!
